Remnants of the Vatnajökull glacier before drifting off to sea
This from the famous Jökulsárlón lagoon in Iceland where pieces of the Vatnajökull glacier break off and eventually drift off to sea and vanish. The Vatnajökull glacier is melting at an alarming 1 meter per year due to rising global temperatures. As we were hiking by this lagoon, i saw this small iceberg floating by near the shore that appeared to almost be reaching out to be saved from its eventual demise in the atlantic ocean. Sustainable travel is capturing moments like this to help illustrate the severity of our climate crisis to those who don't see it and those who can help make a change.
