Rescued gentle giants in Thailand
Taking part in a sustainable project makes a trip even more meaningful. One aspect of a sustainable travel project is caring for another living creature, especially if it is an endangered species or is at risk of becoming endangered or worse, extinct. My significant other and I spent our 10 year anniversary at the Elephant Nature Park near Chiang Mai, Thailand. This is a true elephant sanctuary where abandoned and disabled elephants find refuge. Their stories are heartbreaking, but they now have a safe place to live and animal lovers travel from all over the world to admire these gentle giants.
