Rhodes Memorial, Cape Town
I visited Rhodes Memorial in Cape Town, a now controversial monument to Cecil John Rhodes situated on the slopes of Devil's Peak. In recent years the bust of Rhodes has been "vandalised" - being splashed with paint and beheaded - in order to draw attention to the institutional racism that still pervades South Africa. This was part of the Rhodes Must Fall movement. People still visit the memorial for the views and to have coffee at the restaurant. The imposing pillars and statues make it an interesting place to photograph.
