Rhododendron is his throne

Sandakphu, the only place in the world probably where one can see four out of the five highest peaks of the world. Since the proximity of Sandakphu is relatively closer and takes one day to reach there ,I have had a couple of chances to visit this enchanting and secluded hamlet. This little picturesque village is far away from the hustle and bustle of the city and is surrounded by refreshing green forests, snow-peaked mountains of the mighty Kangchenjunga range, waterfalls here and there, and plenty of flora and fauna. Sandakphu is also known as the land of Rhododendrons, and the nectar of Rhododendrons attracts several bird species like Sunbirds, Yunhinas, Fulvettas, etc. Out of such varied species the most uncommon and the toughest shy bird is this little bird the Fire-tailed Myzornis. The bright green with fiery red tail edges, reminded me that of a green raw mango. This bird can never be seen in large numbers , usually seen singly and very occasionally in pairs and trios. And while trying to photograph this bird, I realized that it's favorite pass time is to forge on the nectar of rhododendron for sure, which is very much evident from the pollens sticking near its throat.
