when you visit and explore Bali, as you travel through the countryside you will see many terraces rice fields. i wondered when viewing these why it seemed they were all decorated with flagpoles & flags. our driver informed me the waving cloth and paper was used to drive off birds that would dine on the farmers crops. made a really unique picture on a breezy day.
