Driving through the back roads of the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge was entirely surreal. I felt humbled by the amount of wildlife we were able to witness. I searched the canals, not expecting to find anything more than a bird, or possibly even a snake. And, though I do adore reptiles, I was completely taken aback to find a wild river otter swimming along side the banks!
