17th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Roaring Mountain in Yellowstone National Park with several fires around causing the sky to glow red at times and especially when sun came up.

Went to Yellowstone with my youngest son summer 2018. They had many fires. This place is called “Roaring Mountain”. This is exactly how it looks. The sky is the color it is because of a of the smoke as the sun was rising. A very otherworld experience. The colors reflecting in the sky altered the color of the springs which are normally yellowish due to bacteria in the water.
