Rock formations at Carpenteria State Beach, CA
I was struck at how powerful tar is. The underground tar deposits caused the Earth's crust to jutt up in a fascinating spectacle of geological proportions, as seen here in this photo. I returned with a Groucho Marx costume and fixed up one of the rocks!
