Rocky Mountain Bristlecone Pine

I came upon this Bristlecone Pine while on a recent vacation to Rocky Mountain National Park. I had always seen these gnarled, twisted trees in photos and had wanted to capture a shot of one. It wasn't until talking with a friend the night before arriving in Estes Park that I found out they were a specific variety of pine. He told me they could be seen near the timberline of where we were planning to hike, and at that point I made it a goal to spot one. Sure enough, as we made our way nearer to the timberline examples of these ancient Pines began to pop up. We spotted this great example of one, and the rest is history!
