Rosy Maple Moth, on Red Maple fruit

Rosy Maple Moths are among our most striking silk moths, due to their extraordinary pink and yellow coloration. When at rest on an exposed surface, the moth is quite conspicuous. When nestled into the colorful samaras (fruit) of one of their caterpillars' primary host plants, Red Maple, the reason for the moth's coloration becomes more apparent.
