Tista River bank erosion is a very common issue of Cooch Behar, West Bengal India. Nowadays government has taken initiatives to stop the river bank erosion. Flood during monsoon is also common every year, which results in scarcity of food for men as well as cattle. That is the reason, in the pre monsoon months ,these people living on the river bank collect the grasses (locally called "Kashiya") from the riverbanks . Some of this "Kashiya" are stored by them for their cattle's feed and rest of it is sold to help them to earn an income.
