An adult male brown bear shakes off excess water while eating a freshly-caught chum salmon in the McNeil River State Game Sanctuary. A bear’s weight gain throughout the summer is entirely dependent on the salmon run, and they can eat 30-40 salmon (equivalent to 100 lbs.) per day!
