Salt flats of Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park

One of the most surreal, albeit gorgeous, walks that one can do is on the salt flats of Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park. This is allowed because salt flats are recreated every year by repeated freeze-thaw and evaporation cycles. Most visitors tend to stay around the entrance. As a result, as you walk away from the entrance, very soon you realize it's just you, the vast sea of stark white salt flats surrounded by the mountains of Amargosa range on one side and Panamint on the other.
