I recently captured a series of photos of desert animals and insects during different situations in the UAE deserts. Among them was a creative shot of a gecko racing towards its burrow as the sandstorm intensified. Geckos have adapted remarkably well to survive in harsh desert environments, including enduring sandstorms. They are essential to desert ecosystems, playing roles in pest control, nutrient cycling, and the food web, which all contribute to the stability and sustainability in desert regions, where nutrients are often scarce.
