SAND-WITCHED ISLAND

Koh Siray us an unusual, quiet backwater, right beside Phuket Town. This means it is on the East coast, and thus protected from the weather and monsoon waves from the Andaman Sea. It also means the beaches here are not like those in the advertising or postcards of Phuket that one has seen. Here the beaches are small and narrow, generally sloping into shallow water with medium clarity. The sand is just OK. But in its own way, this area is also quiet pretty, and definitely peaceful. Importantly, all of Koh Siray is very 'Thai' as opposed to 'tourist', being far from the main tourist beaches along the West Coast. This is ideal for many guests booking into the only beachfront resort hotel in this part of Phuket.
