Sandhill Cranes along the Niobrara River in Nebraska
This was a special trip to view one of the most spectacular wildlife migrations in the world, the staging area for Sandhill cranes along the Platte River near Kearney, Nebraska. Many are arriving from Muleshoe Wildlife refuge in Texas where they spent the winter. They will fatten up here in farmers fields on waste grain before heading north to nesting sites.
