14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Sustainable Travel
Sands of Time

This photo was taken at the Pyramids just outside of Cairo Egypt. Looking out across the desert to the pyramids, it is hard to gauge the timeframe of this picture, it could be anywhere from 2016 BC to 2016 AD. I enjoy the pictures that seem to be timeless, with the exception of the quality of camera obviously. The landscape (and sandscape) tells a great story from antiquity to today and it is truly a dream come true to see this in real life. A sustainable travel project is something that attempts to allow people to see the world without contributing to the pollution of it. Travelling is one of the most important things a person can do, but it should not be at the peril of the environment.
