20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
A huge wave of Sargassum along the shore of Ambergris Caye, Belize. Sargassum inundations are becoming a big problem for the Caribbean and Mexico. The smell is horrible, the fish die, and tourism suffers because people can't swim in it.
