Sasankathi Carrying at Jyotiba Festival
"Sasankathi" is the name given to a very huge wooden pole like thing representing the Plough in the Marathi language. It is the weapon of Lord Jyotiba. It is a big festival which happens just as the summer starts which is the start of the ploughing season. After this offering is done, the ploughing starts. Thousands of devotees gather and come together to celebrate. The poles are of about 30 feet to 70 feet in height. Ropes are used to balance and hold these.
