Scarce swallowtail
Scarce swallowtail (Iphiclides podolirius) is one of the largest butterflies of the Carpathian Basin. Despite the name (“scarce”) this species is quite common in Europe (except the northern parts) and many places in Asia. However, scarce swallowtail is getting rarer as its natural habitat is decreasing (i.e. by blackthorn bushes are being cleared) and is protected in many countries.
