Scolia ardens on Prairie Clover
On a hike in northern New Mexico, I came across a large clump of Dalea candida (prairie clover) with two, very large, very distinct wasps upon it. One of the wasps was a Tarantula Hawk Wasp - the state insect. The other wasp was a digger or blue winged wasp, pictured here.
