Sea urchin

This photograph was taken during my summer holiday in Hersonissos (Crete, Greece). I noticed this marine creature while I was sunbathing on the beach. The scientific name of this sea urchin is "Arbacia lixula" and it’s commonly known as the black sea urchin. It feeds mainly on algae and can be found on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, typically at shallow waters.
