While exploring the unusual formations known as the Pancake Rocks, along the Punakaiki Coast of New Zealand's South Island, I saw a small flock of seabirds soaring above the crashing surf. The birds' aerial ballet contrasted dramatically with the jagged rocks and breaking waves.
