20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Seal Spread
Having grown up in Montana, marine mammals are still quite foreign to me. On a vacation to the Oregon coast, my family and I came across this large group of harbor seals spread out in the sun. I love how silly and chaotic they look on land when in the water they are so effortlessly graceful.
