For migrants who cross into southern Arizona, the environment can be as inhospitable as Mars. While night offers respite from the heat, it brings other challenges. Perched atop a mountain at sunset, a Border Patrol mobile surveillance vehicle uses long-range thermal imaging cameras to scan the valley below for signs of life.
