Seaweed on the Beaches of Playa del Carmen

Seaweed or 'sargaso' is a growing problem on the Yucatán peninsula in Mexico. Due to climate change, large fields of seweed are developing in the ever-warming see. Once these patches reach the shore, it makes the lives of both locals and tourists difficult. Besides the strong smell and the inability to swin in the sea, it takes the work of many people to clean away the sargaso from the beaches.
