Self portrait holding heart shaped puffball mushroom

These Puffball mushrooms were gathered in back of our house in the ravine, but had never seen them growing in that spot before in the past. As a rule we don't see them until they have grown too big to eat and usually in hard to find places, scattered here and there in the woods. I found this perfect heart shaped puffball mushroom that I am holding on the day of my birthday and did a few self portraits three evenings later, until mosquitoes who didn't have heart, started to bite:-) I loved the "heart" of this mushroom and of course my husband and I did not eat it, but let it grow old gracefully where it retained its shape until the end of its life.
