19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest People
Selini
This photograph was taken on the island of Lesbos in Greece on a residential theatre course. Towards the end of the course, we created solo performances on the local beach. This is the start of Selini's ritualistic performance, in which she embodies the movements of water.
