Kaluts or yardangs are strange formations found in certain deserts, such as the Dasht-e-Lut Desert in Iran which arguably is the hottest desert on earth. There is no rock, green or living thing on this part of the desert. The kaluts resemble soldiers or sentinels guarding the barren land.
