Separated by fate

The Huandoy and Huascaran snowy mountains are part of a commonly told tale of Huaraz, and it goes like this: The god Wiracocha separated the Huascaran (Male energy) from the Huandoy (female energy) and as part of their sadness for being separated, they cried and made the 2 lagoons that are right in the middle of both, the Chinacocha and Orconcocha lakes.
