Sewer

History of Partizanske, Slovakia, and its surroundings is closely attached to shoe making industry, which was brought here by famous Tomas Bata. Today, very few people outside of the region know that even though most of the production ceased years ago, there are still some companies producing shoes. This photograph is part of a series in which I was documenting individuals who work in this industry and individual parts of the production process. The worker in this portrait works at a sewing production line. Her task is to sew various parts of the shoe upper together. Roughly 500 pairs of shoes go through her hands every day. Picture was taken in Bosany, Slovakia.
