Shadow cat

Leopards are elusive cats, so just catching a glance of one can be difficult. Whether it is day or night, they soar through the woodland like a shadow. It must be a gift from nature if one has the chance to observe a leopard and capture a clear image of these enigmatic beasts. We came upon this cat peering at us from the rocks while on our evening safari. I used the leaves as the foreground in this photograph and waited for the leopard to move; this adds interest to the composition. To emphasise the leopard's elusiveness, I chose a slower shutter speed and panned with it. The gloomy backdrop made it easier for me to convey their nighttime nature, and the movement of the leopard highlights its elusiveness.
