Shar and his wife have lived as nomads in the Munkhkhairkhan National Park in south-west Mongolia for generations. From their winter camp at an altitude of 2,600 metres, they survive on goats, sheep, yaks and horses. A balaclava and sunglasses are as much a part of the nomadic repertoire as a coat and leather boots. This protects the face and eyes from the extreme weather.
