15th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest People
She's being a peacock
I took this during a performance of the Tanusree Shanker Dancers in Calcutta. She is one of a group of women dancing as if they were peacocks, which I consider my spirit animal--so I especially loved this dance. The style is sort of Bengali traditional meets Martha Graham.
