18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest People
Short-Winded

Stereotypes and gender discrimination have caused many difficulties for women athletes in the world. For instance the type of clothing and how to participate in international competitions. In addition to the usual hardships that are common to all (women), a woman athlete must manage the type of cover and other restrictions. It's very admirable the victory of these women in this challenging condition. In this portrait, you see a boxer girl who unofficially trains with a male coach in the underground club (I had no permission to capture other things.) She says because of the fundamental difficulties, she has no hope of participating in official domestic and foreign competitions and undoubtedly intends to emigrate to achieve her goals. We have witnessed the migration of many Iranian female medal-winning athletes in the international arena.
