Sicilian

My father is frequently mistaken for a local when visiting Sicily; his grandparents emigrated from the northwest of the island, near where this photo was taken. But in some ways the Sicilian culture my father is familiar with has vanished from Sicily. Fewer people cook with the flavors he knows, or cook at all. Even standing in the heart of Sicily, my father might be the strongest reminder of Sicily's cultural past.
