14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
Sierra Juniper
What caught my eye was the shape of this Juniper tree near Carson Pass in the Sierras. These trees endure harsh winters at over 8,000 feet, and they don't grow tall, but are often beautifully bonsaied.
