Silent Witness
On June 20, 2025, in Chilmari, Kurigram, a young boy sits on a fallen tree, gazing silently at the swelling river that swallowed his home. Where once there was laughter, games, and the warmth of family life, now only water and silence remain. The riverbank, once a place of community and belonging, has turned into an unforgiving void. Climate change has turned him into a silent witness to a vanishing childhood and disappearing land, as river erosion and floods continue to displace thousands across northern Bangladesh. His vacant stare reflects more than loss — it carries the unspoken story of resilience, uncertainty, and a childhood interrupted by forces beyond his control.
