This is the Kelly Cabin which is located in the middle of the Chickamauga Civil War Battlefield in North Georgia. In 1890 this battlefield was authorized by Congress as a military park, along with Shiloh, Gettysburg, and Vicksburg. Today , the guns are silent, the soldiers who fought here are gone, and what is left is a park with green spaces and monuments of their past heroic deeds. When I took this picture people were jogging, walking their dogs, riding bikes and just enjoying a wonderful early fall day. It’s funny how this piece of land at one time endured the horrors of war but today it is just a nice quiet place to go visit. This war affected many families , including the President’s.
