Singing in the sun
In their mating and breeding areas (here Silver Bank in the Atlantic) male humpback whales sometimes lie in the water and sing to attract females and also to let their presence be known to other male whales. We did a careful snorkel approach toward this so-called “singer” as not to disturb him and watched and listened. We could feel the vibrations of his powerful singing in our bodies and enjoyed the unique experience.
