Skateboarding under the Beltway

Right before the Capital Beltway crosses the Potomac River in south Alexandria, a magical hideaway of expansive pavement provides endless hours to practice skateboarding tricks. Covered by a half-mile of Beltway roadway, kids of all ages use the empty parking lot area adjacent to Jones Point Park to flip and speed around on their boards while rocking out to hard core metal. But the area under the roadway bridge is vast, so you can also find a moment of quiet awe contemplating the enormity of the Beltway, and what humans are capable of building.
