At every saturday and tuesday of the last fifteen days of kartik (a bengali month) , thousands hindu worshiper celebrate ' Rakher upobash', a holy festival of praying and fasting. It is also known as 'kartik brata'. This celebration takes place at every temple of loknath brammhachari throughout the world. But the biggest gathering takes place at the premises of Sri Sri Loknath Brammhachari Ashram, Baradi, Sonargaon. Loknath brammachari was a famous yogi. He was born in 1730 at undivided bengal and considered as a deity among his disciples. Devotees from every corner of the country come to join this holy occasion every year . Some even come from nepal and india. As the sun sets in the west, devotees start the ritual of 'Rakher upobash' by illuminating the earthen candles and burning the incense. worshipers offer garlands of flower, fruits and foods to the deity and recite holy chants. They break their day long fast with the blessed food known as prasad. By perfoming this sacred rituals, the devotees believe that no sinister forces can harm them and their loved ones will be saved from danger with the blessings of Loknath brammhachari.
