20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Slither

Our secluded forest island has many snake breeds. We are infested with endangered rattlesnakes (Canada has practically none but for some reason we have many,) as well as a cobra-mimicking Hog-Nosed snake. This is a benign garder snake. It was getting some late-day sun on a rock and accepted some company.
