A small US Coast Guard boat is silhouetted at sunset against the dramatic backdrop of the Olympic Mountains (Olympic National Park, WA State)and the Hood Canal Floating Bridge. There is a US Navy submarine base on the south side of the bridge so they pass through this area on their way to patrol stations in the Pacific. While heading out to patrol, the submarines are escorted by numerous ships including the small one is this photo. Although mostly a travel category, I also thought it reflected on the American experience via beauty (the national park mountains), innovation (the floating bridge), and strength/freedom (military).
