12th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
Smoke Stacks
While driving cross-country with my Mom, we stopped in Arizona to view the beautiful canyons. We found that most of the Navajo life that we had pictured had been inhabited by technology and factories. These smoke stacks represented many aspects of America's ever-evolving history. I made the photo black and white to add a stark contrast against the sky and the looming factory emissions.
