Snail on the trail to Clingmans Dome, Great Smoky Mountains National Park
My husband and I traveled to the East last summer with our (at the time) five-month-old son. We toured D.C., as well as three National Parks. While in Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee, we hiked to Clingmans Dome. We went early one misty morning and learned where the mountains get there name! While hiking down through the mist, I spotted a snail on the trail. It was embarking on a trek and going at its own unique pace. Traveling with a baby helped me appreciate its slow, steady progress. This snail reminded me to take in the scenery and not simply focus on the destination.
