Snake Tartare
“Snake Tartare” – Just as I was heading back to my car after a long day of shooting Pin-tailed Whydahs, just as the sun fell behind the horizon, I noticed in the corner of my eye a Red-tailed Hawk on a dry hillside wrestling with a snake. I had just enough light to capture the raptor as it wrestled with the snake and began to swallow it whole. I was fortunate enough to capture the split second when it lowered its nictitating membrane to protect its eyes from the whipping of the snakes tale.
