19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest People
Something and Nothing
This is a self portrait taken as a part of a University of Missouri art project. For this series, I wanted to create monotone, abstract self portraits that capture the disconnect I feel between my identity as a photographer and my struggle with body dysmorphia. My identifying features are not visible in this photo, and each image differs only through clothing, hair, and accessories. These photo symbolize my love for portrait photography but also my deep anxiety about my face and body being captured on film.
