19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest People
Japanese children have a celebration called 七五三 (753) when they turn 7, 5, and 3. They go to temples or shrines and receive prayers. They dress up in traditional clothing and have photos taken. Usually girls go at age 7 and 3, boys at 5.
