Soviet architecture has some aesthetics and ugliness in it. It depends on who is the viewer. For some reason this photo makes me think of Martians. If they would exist I think they would live in similar buildings. As you know in soviet architecture it is common to build many similar buildings together. So zoom out in your mind and imagine thousands of similar houses stretching across the horizon.
